Costa d'en Blanes, Mallorca, Spain
Luxury Mediterranean resort in Mallorca with Michelin-star dining, expansive spa facilities and sea-view suites set in lush coastal gardens

Our review
The hotel is situated right on the sea and has magnificent lawns leading up to it and from the upstairs terrace one can enjoy the view across the bay. One enters through a manned gate and then proceeds to reception.
The hotel only has 125 rooms, so is small enough to be exclusive but is large enough to offer a large range of facilities.
Mar restaurant, where we had lunch has shaded dining al fresco, set in flower gardens bursting with colour and near the pool. I enjoyed an excellent gazpacho and Paul had scallops with caviar and salad from a short but well designed menu.
In the evening, Es Fum is the gourmet choice with one Michelin star. The chef offers six and eight course tasting menus.
The kids club is well equipped with shaded pool, sunbeds for parents, indoor and outdoor play areas and a grassy area where two young children were playing football with their dad on the day we visited.
The adult pool has ample sunbeds and is near the beach, accessed through a gate using the room key.
Over half the rooms are suites and very lovely they are too. A small hallway with fitted wardrobe space led to the bathroom in the junior suite and off this was the bedroom area. The room was well designed and had individual details to make it feel anything other than a hotel room. The desk was an oval shape in blonde wood and there was a back-lit display cabinet containing ornaments; a bench seat fitted up against a wall had small cushions and drawers under; a pleasing rattan style wardrobe for hanging a few items in the room was next to the oversized bed; a chaise longue and another seating area with cream armchairs and footstool completed the picture. With terracotta walls showing a couple of striking modern art paintings to best effect, the room was fresh and modern. Even the textures were unusual; the flooring looked like sea grass but in fact was ribbed carpet. Flooded with light from the floor length window, the room had a terrace with views over the golf course. The dark grey marble bathroom had two sinks and a separate shower. This is one of the most attractive suites I’ve seen in a while.
The spa is a particular feature of the hotel with 1 treatment rooms, well being consultations, a fitness room, wet facilities such as steam rooms and two pools, the outdoor one having sunbeds.
The hotel is particularly suited to children, with a range of activities to keep them happily occupied. Adults, too wishing to have a relaxing break would find everything they need here. Highly recommended.
