About Paul and Livvy
Real People, Real Travel
Paul and Livvy have been keen travellers for over 20 years. Being older travellers ourselves now, we know what the over 60 market wants.
All our travel reporting is based on our lived experiences and our honest, balanced opinions. Luckily, we are both pretty fit and active.
We are making the most of our ‘golden years’ and hope you will too.
We don’t feature work from other contributors, guest blogs etc.
Paul
I have been a TV repairman, fridge mechanic, railway shunter, dance teacher, and for the past 30 years, an IT consultant in the USA, UK, France and Switzerland. My love of travel started with my many business trips.
Recently retired from full-time employment, I now work mainly on Paul and Livvy when I’m not watching footie. I’m currently writing a book about my favourite cocktail.
I love driving and have driven on five Continents including 49 of the US states (only Alaska to do)
I’ve recently re-discovered Interrailing around Europe and I’ve already completed two trips with a few old friends. I’m now lining up a rail trip around Europe with Livvy, more on that soon…
Livvy
A freelance travel writer since 2008 (Olivia Greenway), I’ve been published in major British newspapers – the Times, The Telegraph, Daily Mail, Irish Daily Mail, Daily Express, Independent, and travel magazines – National Geographic Traveller, Sphere and Time Out. I’m an India specialist, with nearly 50 trips . Over 100 countries visited altogether.
I’ve taken a private jet to Scotland, and flown on several smaller planes – over Halong Bay, Vietnam; in South Africa over the Sneeuberg Mountains and across the Masai Mara from Wilson Airport, Nairobi. Helicopter rides have shown me the Grand Canyon and the famous strip in Las Vegas. Sailing our own yacht in the BVIs is up there with my favourite trips. I have travelled with Rovos Rail up to the Victoria Falls and from Pretoria to Cape Town, taken the Unification Express in Vietnam, the toy train in India to Shimla, and the Children’s Railway in Budapest. I’ve travelled on the Caledonian Sleeper and zipped over to France on Eurostar.
I’ve reviewed over 600 luxury hotels for multiple outlets, including The Telegraph, Time Out, Jetsetter and Tatler. I’m available for hotel consultancy and hotel and travel copy.
