Paris, France
Legendary Parisian palace near the Champs‑Élysées celebrated for six‑Michelin‑star dining, opulent suites and an indulgent spa

Our review
If you have not heard of The George V, you haven’t been to Paris. Its reputation goes before it; consequently expectations are high. With one of the grandest addresses in the City of Light – just off the Champs Elysees – and Four Seasons service, it’s a compelling choice for those who want only the best. Since the 1930s, the hotel has accommodated anyone who is anyone, from film stars to rock stars and politicians.
Through a revolving black door, one is greeted with polished marble floors and oversized black vases with white flowers – very chic.
A feature of the hotel is its excellent spa, with eleven treatment rooms. Here too, is an indoor pool, Jacuzzi and relaxation beds.
Rooms are sumptuous and of generous proportions with gorgeous colours like pistachio and lilac, the suites crammed with antiques and Limoges china. Small touches lift it out of the ordinary: soft peach towels, rather than white; deep tubs; walk-in dressing areas and real crystal chandeliers. Wi–Fi is free throughout.
There are numerous eateries within walking distance of the hotel, but if you want to stay put, the three Michelin star Le Cinq is perfect for a special treat.
If you are staying on a Friday during the high season, do try to get on a market or garden tour on Saturday morning. Back in the kitchen, aprons are donned and a dish is demonstrated, to be sampled afterwards with a glass of champagne. It’s an early start but well worth it, I’m told.
For an indulgent hotel stay in Paris, it has to be Four Seasons George V.
