Secluded luxury hotel on a private peninsula near Èze, offering Michelin‑starred dining, sea‑view rooms and serene spa facilities

Our review
One enters through electronic security gates and then there is a short drive down a winding road through the 12 acres of landscaped grounds to the hotel.
The general manager showed us the best rooms first; I’m not surprised – they took my breath away. The one bedroom suite – absolutely enormous – is fit for a maharaja or a VIP or just someone with immaculate taste and a heavy wallet. An original Lichtenstein in the lounge, together with a Niki de St Phalle – I must be in heaven. Rarely do I come across a suite that has me gushing and oohing and aahing like a teenager who has just spotted a member of One Direction. Everything in this suite is exactly to my taste; down to the huge terrace with views of the sea to all sides and absolutely private; even a telephoto lens couldn’t reach here. It’s so secure and discreet, none of the full-length windows need curtains. It was just beautiful.
There is a two-bedroom magnificence too, similarly immaculate and spot on with the design features.
After I had lifted my jaw off the floor, we looked around the other guest rooms, pleasant enough, spread over three buildings and perfect for a quiet break, most with sea views and balconies.
The public areas are well furnished, the grounds are attractive and there is a sea water infinity pool with sun loungers to take advantage of the sea views.
A one-Michelin-star chef serves gourmet and more casual fare.
The small spa has an indoor fresh water pool and two treatment rooms.
Cap Estel is a very special place. All around is the sea and the sound of crashing waves, the gardens sheltered by hundred-year-old trees.
Rooms
