St Tropez, France
Legendary Saint‑Tropez hotel offering refined rooms, vibrant nightlife, luxury spa and Provençal gardens moments from the Old Port

Our review
St Tropez and Byblos are almost synonymous. Known as a party town and the de rigueur destination for the jet set and A-listers during July and August, one of the most famous clubs in St Tropez – Caves du Roy – is situated in the basement, with direct access from the street. Forget being quiet and away from it all; this hotel is right in the throbbing centre.
The ‘Il Giardino’ restaurant specializing in Italian cuisine makes sure that luxury gastronomic needs are met. It is no coincidence there is no private dining room here. In St Tropez everyone wants to be seen.
The hotel is stylish and arranged over several levels with paved terraces and planting. Several buildings painted in deep yellow, pink and rusty orange overlook the pool and terrace area. Most have small balconies. I particularly like the duplex suite ideal for children with a little bedroom upstairs.
The spa has eight treatment rooms and an outdoor relaxation room. But even here, you don’t forget you are in central St Tropez – there is a funky music shower with selections by DJ Jackie. Otherwise, the spa has the usual attributes including a steam room.
Byblos has its own yacht so can organize trips for guests but being in the middle of town, it’s handy for everything, including the chemist for that hangover cure.
The hotel has a friendly, social vibe and would suit those who don’t want a place that’s dull.
