Our review
Meadowood is a 250-acre private luxury wooded resort, with the best of everything: golf links, croquet with a professional instructor, tennis, two swimming pools, spa, hiking trails around the estate and almost anything one could want for a perfect holiday, including (usually) glorious weather. Everywhere is immaculate with not a blade of grass out of place. If Perfectville exists, this is it.
Cottages and suites are dotted through the grounds, most having a raised gas log- effect fire (to enjoy from the bed) and either a furnished terrace, garden or deck (to enjoy the outdoors). The larger guest rooms have two person tubs, oversized showers and heated floors in the bathroom. All are beautifully furnished in rich creams and off-white, with fresh flowers and woollen rugs providing colour and warmth.
The Alcove Room overlooking the croquet lawn has high ceilings, king-size bed, flat screen wall mounted TV and Bose speakers. In the bathroom there are his and hers sinks, Molton Brown toiletries and attractive white tongue and groove panelled walls.
The Restaurant at Meadowood previously held three Michelin stars under chef Christopher Kostow and is currently being redeveloped following wildfire damage.
The Forum restaurant serves very good food all day, a feature being food fresh from the garden. A table on the terrace deck, overlooking the croquet lawn is especially recommended.
There is a complimentary car service to Yountville (disappointing, only has the French Laundry and a few average shops) and St Helena (delightful little village with independent shops).
Being in Napa Valley country, there are numerous wine tours available and regular tastings take place in the resort.
As well as numerous sports already mentioned, there is a spa and well-equipped gym.
As resorts go, one would be hard pressed to find any faults with this wonderful wooded hideaway, only a five-minute drive from St Helena.

Meadowood Napa Valley offers 36 lodge‑style rooms and suites set across a private, wooded hillside. Accommodation has a refined residential feel and includes fireplaces, California king beds, spacious terraces or balconies, deep soaking tubs and views over oak forests or vineyards. Select suites provide expansive indoor‑outdoor living and enhanced privacy.
Food and Drink
Meadowood is internationally recognised for its culinary heritage. The Restaurant at Meadowood previously held three Michelin stars under chef Christopher Kostow and is currently being redeveloped following wildfire damage.
Forum is the resort’s central dining venue, offering an elegant yet relaxed approach to Napa Valley cuisine using seasonal ingredients, many sourced from Meadowood Farm. Additional options include seasonal terrace dining, curated in‑room dining and immersive wine tastings supported by the on‑site Wine Center.
Wellness
The Spa at Meadowood is a destination wellness sanctuary featuring private treatment suites surrounded by woodland. Facilities include steam rooms, saunas, relaxation gardens and bespoke treatments inspired by the natural environment, complemented by a fully equipped fitness centre.

Meadowood Napa Valley is located on a private estate just outside St Helena, surrounded by oak woodlands and vineyards. The resort is close to Napa Valley’s leading wineries, the Culinary Institute of America and the scenic Silverado Trail.
