Rome, Italy
Built in 1889, the neo-classical Majestic was the first hotel on the exclusive Via Veneto. The hotel is within walking distance of the Spanish Steps, the Borghese Art Gallery and gardens and Via Condotti, Rome’s premier designer and boutique shopping street.

Our review
A feature of the hotel is the friendly atmosphere, often missing in a city hotel.
The restaurant has a cosy but opulent feel and is filled with antique mirrors and a striking central chandelier. There is a pretty outside terrace for al fresco dining with black and white tiled floor and planted box hedges.
The lounge has a beautiful fresco and is light and comfortable. Cocktails from the adjacent bar are excellent.
Bedrooms have signature white furniture and walls with contrasting splashes of colour in the fabrics. The beautiful Saint Isidoro Suite overlooks the church garden it is named after and has a large, flower filled terrace. There are a few single rooms; in the past, these would have been used for the chauffeurs of the gentlemen who stayed here.
Last words: A slightly quirky hotel, with an olde worlde feel to it, handy for both shopping and sightseeing.
