Our review

Although it is rated as a four star, this striking downtown hotel has a five-star feel.  Guests are offered a glass of bubbly on arrival and there are few of the niggling little extras one often has to pay.  Wi-Fi is complimentary; there is a free luxury hotel car for travel in the downtown area, subject to availability; coffee and doughnuts are on tap in the morning and there are free newspapers.

This high tech hotel offers free phone calls anywhere in the USA; guest rooms have a sensor, so housekeeping can tell if anyone has been in within the last thirty minutes, so no rushing out of the bathroom to open the door; there is an interactive flat screen TV in each guest room for contacting the front desk, calling room service or browsing menus, and a temperature sensor for optimum comfort.

Each guest room has a Keurig coffee machine.  The walls are double-panelled to keep down noise. Most of the marble bathrooms have attractive two-person tubs, filled from the ceiling and a separate rainfall shower.  There are refillable bottles of Molton Brown toiletries too, rather than those small, throwaway ones.

I was glad to notice that disabled and otherwise handicapped guests are well looked after with braille elevators, wheelchair access throughout the hotel and adapted bathrooms.

The well-equipped fitness room with 24-hour access had fresh fruit and water, complimentary headphones and personal trainers available.  But pride of place must go to the virtual golf club.  Free for guests, one can practise driving or putting or play on a variety of courses, using clever computer technology and real clubs.

This bright, modern well-placed hotel is a good choice for guests wanting excellent service and useful, practical extras.
