Our review
Overlooking Lake Como, there is only the lake road between the 76-room hotel and the water. Across the road is the hotel’s floating pool, ‘beach’ and beach restaurant.
A valet whisked our car away. Parking on hotel property is complimentary; there is a charge if you want it garaged. Our third-floor room overlooked the lake and had a small two-person balcony accessed through French doors.
With super quiet air-conditioning, our room, decorated in soothing tones of soft lilac and grey had a comfortable king-size bed, two tub chairs with coffee table, and ample mirrored wardrobes. The marble bathroom had an excellent shower over the bath as well as a separate stall. Aqua di Como toiletries were of excellent quality and a decent size. There was a magnifying mirror with light and only one sink, but with ample space either side for wash bags. Charging points either side of the bed and a black out curtain for light sleepers were other pluses. A gorgeous silver velvet lined box was also on my side of the bed for rings or small jewellery.
We had a prime seat at the front of the terrace overlooking the water at dinner. At about nine, the moon came out and cast a silvery light over the water. We enjoyed coffee on the nearby smoking terrace.
Breakfast was on the same terrace with ample choices and a pancake and egg station. A la carte extras could be ordered. Efficient white suited waiters are in attendance.
There are extensive grounds to the rear of the hotel, where a pleasant uphill stroll through attractive gardens is also useful for walking off an indulgent meal.
We viewed the more modern suites on the top (fifth) floor. Some of these have a Jacuzzi on the large outdoor terrace with sunbeds. There are also more traditional (historical) suites on the second floor.
Rooms
Grand Hotel Tremezzo offers around 75 rooms and suites overlooking Lake Como or the hotel’s private park. Accommodation is individually styled, blending historic elegance with contemporary comfort. Many rooms feature terraces or balconies with lake views, while select suites include expansive living areas and private whirlpool tubs.
Food and Drink
La Terrazza Gualtiero Marchesi is the hotel’s flagship fine dining restaurant, celebrating Italian haute cuisine on a panoramic terrace overlooking the lake. The menu reflects the culinary legacy of Gualtiero Marchesi, offering refined interpretations of classic Italian dishes.
Additional venues include L’Escale Trattoria & Wine Bar for relaxed Italian dining, Giacomo al Lago set beside the iconic floating pool, and T Pizza, a garden pizzeria serving wood‑fired pizzas. Several elegant bars provide lake‑view settings for cocktails and aperitifs.
Wellness
T Spa is the hotel’s wellness sanctuary, featuring an indoor infinity pool with lake views, relaxation areas, sauna and steam rooms. Treatments are inspired by Italian wellness traditions and use premium products from Officina Profumo‑Farmaceutica di Santa Maria Novella. A fully equipped fitness centre overlooks the lake.

Location
Grand Hotel Tremezzo is set directly on the western shore of Lake Como in Tremezzina, opposite Bellagio. Nearby attractions include Villa Carlotta, ferry connections to Bellagio and Varenna, and scenic mountain paths surrounding the lake.
