Seattle, USA
Set on Pier 67, The Edgewater Hotel is the only waterfront hotel in Seattle. The hotel enjoys uninterrupted views of the Olympic Mountains and Elliott Bay, yet is only a short walk from Pike Place market and downtown attractions

Our review
Living up to its name, The Edgewater Hotel is indeed situated in a superb position, seemingly floating on the water. As if keeping it a secret, from a slightly unexciting exterior, with no water to be seen, up the obligatory circular drive to reception, one is suddenly thrust into the lounge area with far reaching views across the Puget Sound through floor to ceiling windows. The room itself is cosy and quirky, in a good way. It’s the sort of place that makes you want to cancel your plans and sit and look out of the window, watching the watery activities or snuggle next to the fire with a good book, the large stuffed fish staring down at you from the stone fireplace.
Rooms are no less appealing, especially The Beatles Suite, celebrating the room the Fab Four stayed in that put the hotel on the world map. As well as Union Jack scatter cushions and photos of the Liverpool lads, complementing the sixties furniture and memorabilia is a stone-floored bathroom with crimson walls, claw-footed bathtub and his and her sinks and a red sofa in front of a gas flame fireplace. Sadly, no fishing is allowed from the windows these days, but you may look at the photograph. All rooms have gas fireplaces, coffee makers and their signature rubber duck in the bathroom. It would be a shame to consider a room without a sea view.
A particular feature of the hotel is the Six Seven restaurant, filled with light and taking advantage of the wonderful sea views. If the weather is fine, you can sit on the terrace. It really feels like you are adrift on the ocean.
Although the hotel has no spa, there is a well-equipped gym. Children are welcome as are pets, so long as you follow the hotel guidelines.
The hotel is a short walk from good waterfront fish restaurants, the new Ferris wheel and downtown Seattle with Pike Market and other attractions.
This is a lovely hotel in which to stay, allowing you easy walking access to the city.
